The quality of the action agenda

The quality of the action agenda generated by KuneAgi may be measured in terms of technical validity, of political legitimacy and of coherence.

This quality is assured by:

  • the structure of the Documents describing the action proposal. For this Document to justify the creation of a Working Group, it must answer a set of questions. These questions are tools that support reflection and argument-building, such as: what is the issue? why is this issue important? what action is proposed to address the issue? what are the predictable consequences of this action (in the current state of knowledge)? how should these anticipated consequences be morally evaluated?
  • the size, the activity and the productivity of the Working Group gathered around the action proposal. If the Working Group does not have a large enough number of really active Members, or if it does not converge at regular intervals towards interim versions approved by its Active Members (along the democratic rules set by the Working Group itself), the Document production process is stopped, the Document remains as an archive and the Working Group is dissolved. The Working Group may however be rebuilt in identical or renovated form to start again the production of the Document
  • the diversity of points of view, competencies, experiences and values represented in the Working Group. The Working Group is free to determine its own recruitment method. If it chooses an a priori composition control mode, it may examine the public profile of each candidate and choose those Members that make the compromise considered as the best between (1) contributing diverse and complementary competencies, experiences and points of view, in order to cover the broadest aspects of the issue and (2) keeping a capacity to take decisions.
  • the number of Support Tokens received by each action proposal. Only those action proposals that received a number of Support Tokens above a threshold after a finite duration are kept. The others are archived and suppressed from the ranking process. The Action Proposals that received a number of Support Tokens above the threshold are ranked in descending order of Support Tokens received to make up an action agenda. Each Member has a limited number of Support Tokens. Each Token therefore has value for him/her, and s/he will only allocate them with care and attention
  • the distributed control of compliance with the organisation's Principles. The organisation's Principles is the a priori defined text that frames its work, such as (1) the ideological options and guiding principles of a political organisation, (2) the official purpose of an association or of an union, as described in its bylaws, (3) the corporate mission statement of a firm and (4) the domain of responsibility of a public authority. Upon publication of an action proposal, a small group of randomly chosen Members, that do not know one another, is being asked to independently check the compliance of the proposal with the organisation's Principles, and to justify their decision. The final decision is the result of the majority vote between the decisions taken by the members of this small group of controllers.
